Customizing Activity Rows

Expected Outcome: The person will speak using two word phrases.

Purpose: To encourage the person to speak with two word phrases by using a core word followed by a word of his or her choice from the dynamic activity rows.

Target Vocabulary:

1. drink + word from dynamic activity row
2. eat + word from dynamic activity row
3. read + word from dynamic activity row
4. want + word from dynamic activity row

Target Language Skill: Speaking two word phrases

Suggested Objectives:

1. The person will make a choice of something to drink by saying "drink" + a word from the dynamic activity row.
2. The person will make a choice of something to eat by saying "eat' + a word from the dynamic activity row.
3. The person will make a choice of something to read by saying "read" + a word from the dynamic activity row.
4. The person will request something by saying "want" + a word from the dynamic activity row.

Teaching Activities:

This lesson is for only SpringBoard Lite Unity 32 and the Unity 1-Hit versions in ECO and Vantage Lite.
Directions for customizing dynamic activity rows are at the end of this lesson plan. Be sure to download these and add the specific choices the person will want to say. You can also learn how to delete or hide choices that are not wanted.

A. Speaking

1. Model and teach two word phrases from the target word list. Provide the requested item when the person asks for it independently. Be sure that the new vocabulary you store is something the person really wants to ask for.
2. As soon as the target words are learned, add and teach new phrases.
3. If the person learns these two word phrases quickly, move to a sequenced version of Unity.
